Cookies

I did something today that I've always wanted to do with my little girl...make cookies. Since it's a word I hear from Jane a lot I knew I could get her excited. I put an apron on her and sat her on the counter next to the mixer. First we added the shortening, I turned away for a minute to get the next ingredient, and when I turned around, Jane put a clump of shortening in her mouth and munched on it. Eww, gross! I turned away again and came back to Jane with a clump of brown sugar in her mouth, totally happy. I distracted her by having her help me dump ingredients in the mixer. She loved that. I kept saying "look, don't touch". But how can little hands stay out of a yummy bowl of cookie dough. That girl couldn't stop! She was licking everything she could get her hands on! From the beater, to the cookie scoop, to the measuring spoons. Just like her father. I'm thinking she still might be too young for this, dang it. Oh well, the cookies turned out pretty good actually, if you dare to eat one that has been touched by a 21 month olds hand. Despite the craziness, we had a blast and I can't wait to involve her in baking again. Afterwards, while I was cleaning up, I noticed I have my very own Cinderella that loves to help (I have a "Rella" addict! Notice the shoes).

She is a darling. If we didn't live like 2 or 3 thousand miles away I'd love to get her and David together. *SIGH* (This is Deidre posing as Brad.)
