New Moon

And I thought I knew how to throw a party!

I went to an amazing New Moon party last night. I sadly didn't take my camera so that is why I write this in detail. The girls from the ward invited me and of course I said yes. I was told that Bajio was going to cater and they were asking $10 from every girl...alright. I was also told that it was held at the Red Rock Hotel in Summerlin...okay. Party started at 6:30 so I was fashionably late at 7:00pm. This is my first time stepping into this hotel and I was blown away by how cool it was. I made my way up to the 17th floor, walked down a very long hallway and was greeted at the door by a dozen black and gold balloons. When I walked in it was kind of quiet...I said "Are you guys taking a quiz?"...sure enough they were. I was instantly handed a New Moon quiz paper and pen, after being complimented on my "Team Edward" shirt (I noticed many girl's wearing neutral "Team Switerland" tshirts). There must have been at least 30-35 women in this suite. After the quiz (which I didn't do too bad, considering it's been over three years since I've read the book), I helped myself to some delicious mexican food served on official Twilight plates. That is when I took in the details of this amazing party. If you know me I notice and appreciate details. First, the decor. The ceiling was covered with gold and black balloons with red strings...had to be over 50 balloons. There were black frames everywhere with quotes from the movie. The wall art was covered with New Moon art. There were a dozen tall stemmed roses in the middle of the dessert table which served as the focal point of the room. Take in mind this suite had that dark, sexy feeling many hotels here in Vegas have and just so happen to have black, red, and gold as there interior colors, so it all looked SO put together. The music in the background was the Twilight soundtrack. Now for the snacks and desserts. Everything was New Moon related of course. Beautiful pedistals, apothicary jars, and gold chargers displayed all the yummies we could eat now and clear plastic bags to bring some to the movie later. All treats were, again, red, black, and gold. Here are a few I remember....red vine licorice (wrapped in different "blood type" bag...mine was A+), hot tamales, red and black m&m's thoughtfully swirrled in a glass jar, oreos (christmas bag, just used the red filled), oreo truffle balls, red grapes in ice cold water (yum), hershey and recesses in gold wrappers, and red velvet cupcakes. That's not even half the food, There were even more clever homemade goodies with clever names that I can't remember because I was so busy having fun and chatting. Around 8:30pm girls started trickling down to the theater (attached to the hotel...how convenient) to wait in line. I stayed back another hour to enjoy the suite and us girls that didn't get tickets to the movie because it was sold out two months ago. Then we got a phone call saying that two girls standing in line were bailing the movie, so I quickly snagged one of their tickets. I packed up my goody bag, grabbed some bottled water from the bath tub filled with ice, and made my way to the theater. Yeah, I got a ticket! It was 9:30pm and I got in line with the group just as they were letting us in the theater. Everyone ran to get great seats. It was hilarious. While waiting for the movie to start we played several rounds of Catch Phrase (yes, we were one of those loud obnoxious groups) and got to spend a lot of time getting to know the girls in my ward better. These girls are so nice and conversations were so fun and uplifting. When 12:05am came, I was so ready and surprisingly very awake. I REALLY enjoyed the movie... more than Twilight, which is interesting because I didn't care for the book. After the movie, all the girls were headed back up to the suite to party hard once again and distect the movie, but I headed for my car, exhausted. It was 2:40am and I was ready to go home. I did it, I gave it my all, and had an absolute blast! I hope I never get too old to do these things. It's so rejuvinating to my soul. I have learned so much from my new Vegas friends...and one is how to throw a premier party. Well worth the $10.

Wow... I wish I had friends like that! None of them must have more than 2 kids... I think that might be the "problem" with my friends in this ward ;) By the way, Mason has no interest in the potty. Sometimes I wish I had a girl.
