Flapper Girl

Many people asked me if Jane was going to be Cinderella for Halloween this year and I say that would be too obvious, and afterall, she is Cinderella every day. So I changed it up and Jane was a flapper girl, complete with gloves (that were too big but she didn't care). I also thought this could double as a "dress up" later. Jane was so sick of me saying "smile for the camera" the day before at Disneyland, so I couldn't get one photo of her with a true Jane smile, instead a very non enthusiastic "cheese" with a straight face.

We trick-or-treated in my Aunt Susan's (where we stayed) neighborhood in Yorba Linda. After watching the kids for the first time what to do, Jane was a pro after the first house. She said "trick-or-treat" in her darling little squeaky voice and went for the candy. So many people let her take two handfuls (and we are talking GOOD, BIG size candy in California). I told Jane to grab yellow (peanut M&M's for mom) and she mostly did. Aren't I awful? After a while Phillip and I noticed Jane's pumpkin getting very heavy and offered many times to help her lighten the load, but she refused. Notice the picture of her on Phillips shoulders with the candy pumpkin behind her, refusing to let us get near it. She had such a "I worked hard for this and it's all mine" attitude. Jane was lucky to get a ride on Uncle Mike's golf cart while Phillip and I tried to catch up the whole time. Afterwards, we got back to the house, spread out the candy like we should and joined in with Michael (my cousin who is a fifth grader) and his friends and began trading. She had fun with this. We had a great Halloween with our first time true trick-or-treater.
