Nested

I've been nesting like a mad women these past two weeks. It all started with my mom and sister two Mondays ago coming and helping me paint Jane's bathroom. Weird place to start I know, but boy was I sick of that pea soup green on the walls. I wanted a nice, fresh, white bathroom instead. I'll post pictures of the bathroom when it's complete. Here are some of the quick and temporary changes we've made so I feel a little more ready. We have taken our house off the market for the time being, but plan on putting it back on pretty soon so I didn't want to change much. Are you ever really ready for a baby?

Jane's Room:
I moved Jane into the old guest room where she now has a "Big Girl Bed" (Queen size and loving it). I didn't want to repaint that room and I also need to work with the black and white...so I added pale pink to the mix and now it screams GIRL. I made this room into Jane's room for under $100. Yeah! Phillip painted an old lingerie chest from sage green to white and I went to Anthropologie and got 5 different pink knobs. I used an old pink quilt that was past down to me for the bedding. Went to Ikea and bought 9 white Ribba matted frames and framed pictures from a Barbie calendar I got at Costco last year. Lastly, bought a pink Ikea lamp. It all kind of came together and we love it.

Baby's Room:
Again, I didn't want to change the wall color and all the furniture needed to stay. I made the bumper, yes, piping and all. My sisters and mom made the bed skirt...which I love. I found the little ottoman at a garage sale and Phillip covered it with some new fabric. The curtains are simple and a fun deep corally/red. The retro clock was my granny's, I saw it collecting dust in her garage for years and now I'm putting it to good use. Big splurges are the knitted bluebird mobile over the crib and the "I am a child of God" print. I have bought 3 big square frames that I plan on painting coral and putting some pictures of the girls in...these will hang on the wall above the crib. The overall feel for the room is traditional modern. It's kind of bare (considering 1/3 of our house is in storage right now), but I kind of like it that way. This room also has to store a few of Jane's toys which she plays with everyday (the kitchen and vanity). It feels fresh and I love the little changes from Jane's old nursery. Now our little girl will have an exciting nursery to come home too.

So talented! It all looks awesome! I miss the days when I could decorate my kids room. Now they are all old enough to have their own opinions and want their own say. Sigh!
